We had our valentine’s day dinner in advance on saturday evening (due to foreseen circumstances like staying in and midterms - a whole conspiracy of bad timings) at Antoinette at Penhas Road! 

It actually came as a surprise to me cos I did list this place as a possible birthday lunch place for L but eliminated it when he picked to have Asian food, so when he ended up bringing me there I was really excited haha.

“You know, I picked it cos you’re learning french…”  So thoughtful right :) 

The place looked pretty small but I really appreciated the distance between tables so we didn’t have to hear the conversations of others over dinner! Liked the feeling of sitting in chairs that were large and felt somewhat like thrones haha. 

The menu had quite a bit of French in it that I could read! *pats self on back* but I don’t really deserve it cos the vocabulary used inside it is quite fundamental. The place was actually quite empty except for two other groups of people and only started filling up at around 8pm. Really good for a quiet place to have dinner with a nice ambience!

This is L with our massive dessert on a plate: The Peach Melba. 
It was made with a large scoop of French vanilla ice-cream with an unusual biscuit (the large pieces) that tasted sugary. There was cream, peach slices and strawberry confiture on two large oval pieces of I don’t know, crepe? Didn’t really sit well with our asian tummies haha. 

This is L’s marinara which was really good according to him (and also judging by the rate at which he finished it) and the seafood was fresh!

I really liked it cos the brioche was soaked in butter in the middles and underneath the poached eggs there was wilted spinach and this savory, amazing tasting, thinly sliced meat. Which I didn’t check the menu for and never found out what it actually was. But it was good. I keep forgetting to ask for no vinegar in my salads!! That’s two vinegar-heavy salads in a week (the other from The Bread Yard - lovely lovely cafe), but I may be getting used to the taste soon.  

This is the soap dispenser I came across in the toilets!! Too adorable, I must have one in the future. L used the exact same toilet as me and didn’t notice it cos he was fascinated with the antique tap designs hahaha. 

This was my initial (and apparently first in a series of surprises for V day) present! ♥ Who doesn’t love a necklace and three little crystals down the middle of a heart pendant :> 

Then in a COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED MORNING of 14/02/2012 (that which was this morning but I just felt a need to spell the date out) I got a huge bouquet of roses delivered from L!!!!! ♥♥♥ People normally say flowers are clichéd and perishable, but honestly there is nothing more that excites a girl when it’s the very first Valentine’s day.  

Say hello to six huge roses @.@ and a number of pale pink… I don’t know what they’re called so I shall assume they are tulips hahaha. So beautiful!! Thank you love♥ (◕‿◕✿) I know they must have cost some exorbitant amount to buy and deliver today itself.

On another note, midterms today was quite the flop. The papers were all missing their even pages and so about 15 odd MCQ questions were missing from each paper, but people with different sets of the paper answered different questions. Quite disappointed that I spent a lot of time studying for the origins of PR and due to the screwup my paper only had about 3 questions regarding American history and none on Singaporean history. But honestly, grateful for the extra time it created if not it would have been quite a rush. Didn’t prevent me from getting them 2 of them wrong already though :O
