Detox to Retox theme by Marg

nothing like a good meal

Today, Viv, Eunice and I (cos huiyi couldn’t make it :() went to Fremantle Seafood Market for lunch! The skies were cloudy and it wasn’t warm so we sat alfresco, at a table right by the waterfront.

We ordered Fremantle Coolers in apple and cranberry, nicely made and presented.

This is the Chilled Shellfish with Thai Guava Salad, with plenty of chopped chilli padis tossed in unfortunately. All of us gave up after a few bites and gulping down drinks. The shellfish was fresh though, albeit very small. Wonderful manager appears at our table and asks for feedback about our food, hears our response and suggested that she’ll see what she can do about it. Then she re-appears with this:

Three bowls of steaming clam chowder!! To replace our salads at no cost. Impressive service :) Clam chowder was tasty, not extremely creamy and peppered just right. Very few clams tasted inside though, but I felt very thankful for the switched dishes.

Main course: Wood-grilled grouper with oyster fritter and horseradish and mascapone sauce, if I remember rightly. Served nicely presented, with long beans underneath the four portions of grouper and this unusual flat black beans all over the plate (never figured out what they were). And holland tomatoes :)

Having never tried Fremantle before and based on previous bad reviews I didn’t go with high expectations so when things turned out great it was a pleasant surprise! Was awesome catching up with the girls too :D

This is a picture of bread and freshly scrambled eggs with scallion greens that I made on a stormy day once - just for the sake of showing the similarities of feeling well-fed haha.
